DRAM contract prices and buying RAM in India
Buying RAM in India? Read the contract report before you time your purchase
TrendForce sees slower gains in PC DRAM contracts. Learn how to read that signal alongside India's PC outlook and set a price ceiling for the exact RAM kit you need.

If you can delay a PC build until January, start by recording today’s quote for the RAM kit you would actually buy. That gives you a useful comparison even if the next industry report sends a different signal. One Indian builder raised exactly this timing decision when weighing a November purchase against waiting until January. Reader question on r/IndianPCGamers.
What the two reports measure
TrendForce’s 30 October public summary describes PC DRAM contract prices rising more slowly in Q4 2026 than in Q3. Negotiations were still underway. The researchers pointed to suppliers shifting production toward servers, alongside weaker notebook shipments, rising inventory and buyers pushing back on higher quotes. A slower rate of increase still implies an increase for the measure being discussed. TrendForce October PC DRAM contract summary.
Omdia’s 1 October outlook forecasts weaker finished PC shipments in India in the second half of 2026. It points to orders brought forward into the first half and notes that vendors have adjusted configurations to hold certain price points. A lower-priced finished PC may therefore come with a different configuration, which makes the model and memory specification worth checking on each quote. Omdia India PC outlook.
| Evidence | What it tells you | What to check next |
|---|---|---|
| Upstream PC DRAM contracts | Direction of negotiated component costs | Whether a supplier’s quote has an expiry date |
| India finished PC shipment forecast | How Omdia expects volumes to change | Whether two finished PC quotes specify the same memory configuration |
| Quote for an exact RAM kit | The price and terms available from that seller at the recorded time | Delivered total, availability and compatibility |
What one storefront check looks like
On 5 November, MDComputers displayed ₹62,738 and marked G.Skill’s Flare X5 kit F5-6000J3038F16GH2-FX5 in stock. That is a single storefront observation. Delivery eligibility and the final total for a specific PIN code were unverified. G.Skill lists two 16GB DDR5 modules and an EXPO profile rated up to 6000 MT/s on suitable hardware with the necessary settings. Record the full part number so a later quote for a different 32GB kit does not get mistaken for a change in this kit’s price. MDComputers listing · G.Skill specifications.
Set a price ceiling for the actual kit
- Freeze the configuration. Record the manufacturer part number, total capacity, number of modules, memory generation and rated speed. Confirm the platform and module support for the build you intend to assemble.
- Compare the delivered total. Use the same delivery location and tax basis. Save the observation time, seller, stock status, shipping, warranty terms and any conditions on the discount. Recheck the final total at checkout.
- Choose a decision date. Set a maximum you would pay and the last date that leaves enough time for delivery and testing. If a verified quote meets both, you can decide with a real offer in hand. For a build that can wait, schedule one recheck for the same kit. For a batch order, ask the seller to put the configuration and quote validity in writing.
A retailer may still have stock bought at a different cost or run a seller-funded promotion. The same kit can therefore move differently from upstream contracts for a time. Comparing like-for-like quotes gives you a way to see that difference. The public research summaries provide market context and limited detail on their underlying samples. The single storefront check gives a starting point for a comparison of that kit. Your timing decision still depends on your delivered quote and deadline.
